IDXChannel - MNC Next - Gen Leaders with the title “Working Together for the Nation” was officially held at the Jakarta Concert Hall, iNews Tower, Jakarta.

This event includes discussions from a number of speakers to motivate Gen Z within MNC Group. Initiated by Co-CEO of MNC Group, Angela Tanoesoedibjo, MNC Next - Gen Leaders was attended by thousands of MNC Group employees from various business units.

Angela revealed the reason for holding this event was because she wanted Gen Z, which amounts to one-third of MNC Group's total employees, to be more developed.

“The point is, when I return to my home after 5 years at Kemenparekraf, one thing I want to bring is that I want to make this MNC Group have a culture that nurtures innovation. Earlier Mr. Hary had said, the biggest population is Gen Z and millennials. The Gen Z population is actually bigger. So the future is yours,” Angela said.

Angela further shared that during her time at Kemenparekraf to fill the position of Deputy Minister, she met many Gen Z with extraordinary enthusiasm.

Angela also said that many Gen Zs have creative ideas and innovations that open up opportunities for Indonesia to move forward together.

“Last week I read an article, many companies lay off Gen Z. Six out of 10 companies lay off Gen Z. Six out of 10 companies lay off Gen Z in the same year they hire them. That tickled me. You see, in my 5 years at Kemenparekraf, I have met many amazing Gen Zs. Their innovation, their passion, it's really cool,” Angela said.

“And now that I'm at MNC Group, I see a tremendous opportunity. Maybe Gen Z just needs an opportunity. Maybe Gen Z just needs a support system. This is why this forum is held, I want Gen Z in MNC, we become the trend setter in the future. How Gen Z can develop,” she said.

For information, in MNC Next - Gen Leaders, Founder and Executive Chairman of MNC Group, Hary Tanoesoedibjo also shared success tips for Gen Z. The man who is often called HT emphasized the importance of having a good leadership spirit and soft skills to be able to face the changing wheels of life.

He said these two things are a strong foundation for someone to have a solid character. Which according to him is very important for Gen Z who will become the nation's leaders in the future.

“Leadership is very important to build anything. If we work in a company, we will definitely increase our career. The higher the position, the more subordinates, the greater the importance of leadership,” Hary said.

“Hard skills are important but the foundation is soft skills. You have to instill soft skills, make them strong, and make them solid. If soft skills are strong, people will automatically improvise to improve technical skills. In the private sector, being an entrepreneur, soft skills must be very very very strong,” he said.

In addition to good leadership and soft skills, Hary Tanoesoedibjo also emphasized the importance of discipline. He tells the story of his youth, when he was so lazy that he had to pursue a C package diploma in high school.

Hary Tanoesoedibjo said that when he was in school, he was so lazy and often underestimated things. Until finally in 1984, he determined to improve himself by continuing school and studying diligently.

“I took the equation exam at that time, which is now called package C. I realized in the real sense, from being lazy, from being undisciplined, so the point is I changed. Maybe if I keep it up (undisciplined), I won't be here,” he said.
